I have just discovered and

I have just discovered and love these granola bars! However, I am wheat sensitive and see no mention of wheat or that this product MAY contain wheat on the packaging. Even if it may be packaged in a plant that has come in contact with wheat or the oats grown in a field near wheat, I think you should clarify on your packaging that it may contain wheat and gluten. Since I didn’t see wheat in the ingredients I assumed this product was wheat free, and wondered why you didn’t boast that on your packaging. That one extra little line on the package would be really helpful. Thank you!

Hi Kimberley and thanks for

Hi Kimberley and thanks for reaching out to us. We’re sorry our labelling hasn’t been clear for you. We do list possible allergen risks regarding nuts and dairy, however I’ll pass along your suggestion to also add gluten to that list. To clear up some things, our granola bars aren’t suitable for a gluten-free diet as they contain oats that might have undergone cross contamination with gluten (in the fields or during the milling process). As a rule of thumb, you should always ALWAYS look for the Gluten-Free Certification from the Gluten Free Certification Organication (GFCO) which is a program of the Gluten Intolerance Group. This is the highest quality of GF certification available today and you’ll find it on all of our GF products. If something doesn’t have this certification, you can’t be sure that it’ll work for you. Keep in mind, just because something doesn’t have wheat listed as an ingredient, such as these granola bars, doesn’t make it GF. We’d love to offer GF granola bars in the future, however at this time there isn’t enough gluten free organic oats for our supply needs. Take care, Justine, Nature’s Path Team

Being that Coconut is one of

Being that Coconut is one of my favorites, I was looking forward to trying this one. But I believe that 11 grams sugar, out of a 35 gram bar is far too much sugar. In this bar, sugar represents 31.4 percent — Almost 1/3 of the bar is just sugar! Having witnessed friends and relatives deal with diabetes type 2, and having myself been addicted to sugar in my younger years, I just will not let myself buy and consume high-sugar products. It is not good for my health. And I work hard at keeping my processed sugar consumption low. (I don’t even buy fruit juices, as they are so high in sugar, even though it is a “natural” form — it is just too high a sugar concentration content.) Please Reformulate to bring us a nutritionally healthy coconut granola bar. Thank you for your consideration.

Hi Bruce and thanks for your feedback. We think that sugars, in moderation, are part of healthful eating so long as its mixed in with foods that provide plenty of nutrients. Still, we’re aware people are seeking low sugar options these days, so I’ve passed this info along to our Research and Development team. Take care, Justine, Nature’s Path Team

I agree with the comment

I agree with the comment about “too much sugar!!!” I think your R&D team should look into decreasing the overall amount of sugar in the bars.  I know us Americans like our level of sweetness higher compared to other countries but it is too much for me even though the taste and texture is all there. Unfortunately I would not purchase these again because of this. My two cents. Thanks!

I am concerned by your use of soy lecithin as it is the sludge left after crude soy oil goes through a “degumming” process. I make it a must to check products for soy lecithin and though you say it is non-GMO, it is still bad for the body. I know too that it is used as a thickener but surely there are other thickeners you could use. I have not tried this particular bar, but I have tried your berry bar and find it delicious. I’m sure you have bars not made with soy lecithin……I hope. thank you

Hi Sharon and thanks for

Hi Sharon and thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. Soy provides many health benefits particularly for the vegetarians that eat our products and require the protein that soy provides. All organic soybean oil is expeller pressed, cold pressed pure oil extracted from soybean, non organic uses solvents. Expeller pressed oil may have traces of soy protein, which highly refined oils don’t have. Some people are allergic to soy protein. Organic soy lecithin is a translucent, brown, viscous fluid emulsification. No solvents can be or were used in the production of this lecithin, and it’s produced without the use of genetic engineering, irradiation or sewage sludge. All the best, Justine, Nature’s Path Team.

Hi there and thanks for asking this question! Our products use natural flavors and the exact composition of our natural flavors is considered proprietary information by the supplier. However, natural flavor may use (non GMO corn based) alcohol in the extraction stage, which burns off during this process. Hope this answers your question! I really love your bars!

I really love your bars! However, I was curious if you guys would ever consider using oats that aren’t exposed to wheat so that they could be considered gluten-free?  There really aren’t too many good GF granola bars out there, it would be so great to make these a staple at my house.  Thanks! Mandy

Hi Mandy and thanks for

Hi Mandy and thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. Most North American oats are grown close to gluten containing grains or are exposed to gluten containing grains in the milling process, therefore, most oats in North America are not gluten free. It is also very hard to get gluten free oats in the quantities that we need. We are working on fixing this though so hopefully we’ll be able to offer gluten free oat products in future. In the meantime I suggest trying some of our gluten free products found here http://www.naturespath.com/eat-well/gluten-free-celiac-diet. Take care Mandy, Jamie, Nature’s Path team

Hello, Your Chococonut

Hello, Your Chococonut chewy granola bar is far from gluten-free. You should have a warning on the label. This bar made me sick, literally, because of the gluten. Please consider using gf oats, perhaps charge a little more. It would open a whole large niche for you. So many people are discovering they are gluten sensitive. Also it’s is just a tad too sweet. Thank you, Chris

Hi Chris and thanks for your

Hi Chris and thanks for your input. Our granola bars aren’t gluten-free due to the oats. If any given product of ours is gluten-free, you’ll be sure to find a seal on the package to reflect that. However, if something isn’t gluten-free and you don’t find gluten-free certification on the package, it’s safe to say it’s not gluten-free. While oats shouldn’t be an issue for those who are gluten-free, there’s risk of cross-contamination with wheat, rye and barley in the field or during the milling process. At this time in North America, we can’t get organic gluten-free oats in the quantity we’d need. However, we completely understand there’s a demand for gluten-free granola bars, and so I’ve passed along your suggestions to our Research and Development team. All the best, Justine, Nature’s Path Team

I LOVE your products! I am gluten intolerant but ventured into eating your oatmeal bars and so far so good! Thank you for all the superior, great tasting products!

Thanks so much for getting in

Thanks so much for getting in touch with us Irene! We’re so glad that you love these bars, but since you are gluten intolerant you should know that our granola bars are not gluten free due to the oats. Oats are grown in fields with gluten containing grains, such as wheat, and they could also be in contact with gluten containing grains in the milling process. The best way to confirm that you can make these bars a part of your diet is to take the box to your medical practitioner. For Nature’s Path products that don’t contain gluten, please click here: http://www.naturespath.com/eat-well/gluten-free-celiac-diet. All the best Irene, Jamie, Nature’s Path Team

I am confused if these bars

I am confused if these bars are Gluten free or NOT. Oats do not contain gluten and can be consumed by most celiacs. The question is are the oats used in your bars processed in a wheat factory, not the bars but the oats themself. Please clarify …thanks

Thanks for being a part of

Thanks for being a part of the conversation! You are correct in saying that oats do not contain gluten, but oats are grown in fields with gluten containing grains, such as wheat, and they could also be in contact with gluten containing grains in the milling process. This is why we do not state that our granola bars are gluten free. Nature’s Path has over 20 products that are gluten free, so I suggest you look over our list and try something new: http://www.naturespath.com/eat-well/gluten-free-celiac-diet. Take care, Jamie, Nature’s Path Team

really that is kind of rude!

really that is kind of rude! i suggest U look over ur list and see what U can eat!! Then look over a celicas list and see what U COULD eat if u had this uncontrollable desease!!!! Next time use kindness when dealling with a question, i for one am now done with this company! jackie!

Hi Jackie, apologies if my

Hi Jackie, apologies if my previous response came across as anything but kind. We’ve served the gluten free community for over 25 years and aim to be nothing short of helpful and considerate to dietary requirements like yours. The point to my statement above it that our oats are not certified gluten free, which means that these granola bars are not recommended for those living with celiac disease. That said we do have a list of 28 gluten free products that you can refer to as a resource (link above). As we are always looking to improve, I would love to hear your ideas for how we can make our website easier for gluten-free consumers to navigate in future. Thank you for your feedback, Jamie, Nature’s Path Team

Jamie, I did not find your

Jamie, I did not find your comment rude at all so don’t take it personally if people want to put blame on others. I often look for gluten-free items for myself and my clients as well, and I understand the controversy about oats since I personally find that certain types are easier to digest than others. Find what works best for you everyone, and…enjoy!

Tasty, but are they Kosher? I looked and saw that they were organic and that they proved to be Kosher, but when I did my research I could not find this product on the OU’s website, nor under Kosher on this website, yet the appear to have an OU stamp on both the box and each individual package. So I was wondering, are they indeed Kosher or aren’t they?

Hi - I bought a mixed box of

Hi - I bought a mixed box of your bars at Costco back in September - I was very disappointed this past weekend when I packed the last of our Chococonut’s for a winter hiking outing, we stopped for a snack only to find out the bars had “gone bad”. They had an awful stong taste, like the oil in the nuts had gone bad. They are dated for 11 JUN 11, and I keep these type of things in my cold room, so there should have been no reason for this. We did enjoy the other flavors very much but spending money on something that has ‘gone bad’ is very disappointing.

We’re glad to see you’re a conscious consumer Lucas, and we are happy to educate you on our ingredient choices. At Nature’s Path our vision is to be a trusted name for quality organic foods in every home; socially responsible, environmentally sustainable and financially viable. Being organic means that our products don’t contain artificial preservatives, additives or genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and the ingredients are not grown with toxic pesticides, chemical fertilizers or fumigants. This means that chemical solvents such as hexane are strictly prohibited in organic food processing. Nature’s Path also uses organic evaporated cane juice and organic invert cane syrup which provides our consumers a raw form of sugar rather than refined. Sugars, in moderation, are a part of healthy eating. Soy foods have many nutritional benefits. At the very least, soy foods can replace less healthy foods that are high in saturated fat and cholesterol. We not only use oats, but we also use a lot of ancient grains like spelt, kamut, amaranth and quinoa. Nature’s Path offers choices to customers including many low sugar, soy free or oat free products. Please go to the Our Products portion of our website to find products that suit your needs. Thanks again Lucas, Jamie, Nature’s Path Team

Hi there Meir and thanks for taking the time to send us your thoughts. Yes this product is Kosher Certified and classified as OU-D. Many of our other granola bars, cereals, and granola is also Kosher.

Bad ingredients:evaporated

Bad ingredients:evaporated cane juice (another name for sugar)soy oil (soy is bad for you, especially men)soy lecithin (additive found in many foods these days, processed usually with the toxic solvent HEXANE!)invert cane syrup (more sugar)oats (hard on the digestive system) If your company really cared about their consumers, they’d be using better ingredients!

We’re glad to see you’re a
